Habanero Hot Sauce

You’re probably thinking what’s the point of making hot sauce when you can just buy it. I’ll tell you why- BECAUSE IT TASTES AMAZING! Nothing you buy will taste as good as this, that’s literally why. The habenero chilli peppers have their own smoky and robust flavor that will have you putting this hot sauce on literally everything! This recipe is also super easy to make, you just let it ferment for a week and throw things in a high speed blender.


-4 habanero hot peppers

-1/2 cup of salt

-1 cup of water

-2 tsp of minced garlic

-1 orange/ yellow bell pepper

-1/2 cup of white vinegar or to taste


1). Cut your habenero peppers in half with the 1/2 cup of salt and 1 cup of water and minced garlic in a mason jar with a lid. “Burp” your mason jar every day by simple opening the jar and allowing the gases to escape and then closing the lid. You’ll want to ferment these peppers for 7 to 10 days, burping regularly. This will allow your peppers to ferment and allow the gases to escape so that your mason jar does not explode with the gasses that will accumulate through the fermentation process. Keep you mason jar in a dark place. This step is optional but adds a depth of flavor to the hot sauce that you just won’t want to miss.

2). Once your peppers have fermented, add in all of the content of the mason jar and the vinegar and the bell pepper into your blender and blitz away! You’ll want to blend this sauce for at least 2 minutes to ensure that everything gets blended into the sauce.

3). Place your hot sauce in an airtight container and place it in the fridge. The sauce will last in the fridge for one year (if it was fermented- Step 1).
